In his remarks, Dean David Jones announced that 622 students were candidates for graduation. The total number of students for each degree are:
- 178 master's degrees
- 32 doctorate degrees
- 5 post-baccalaureate certificates
- 407 bachelor's degrees
"Beyond personal success and professional accomplishment, you are uniquely positioned to make the world a better place," Jones said in his welcome speech to the undergrads. "That calling extends not only from your technical expertise, but from your values, aspirations, and commitment to service."
Aggie Pride shines brightly from graduating students as they hoist an Aggies T-shirt at convocation.
In an address to the graduates, Associate Professor Elizabeth Vargis acknowledged that the problems awaiting them are "complex, interconnected, and urgent."
"But you are prepared," said Vargis, associate professor of biological engineering. "Not because you have all the answers, but because you know how to find them responsibly, and because you know how to bring others along with you."
The College of Engineering is dedicated to fostering a creative and inclusive learning environment where students and faculty are empowered with the knowledge and experience to become the leaders in engineering who will improve tomorrow's economy, environment and society.
