#EngineeringVision: USU Engineering Launches Freshman Recruiting Campaign

April 4, 2025

Utah State University's College of Engineering is expecting to welcome a large class of incoming students in fall 2025. To kick off their journey, each student has been sent a special swag box filled with Aggie gear, including a beanie, sunglasses, stickers, an Aggie chocolate bar and a vision board. This initiative, known as the Engineering Vision campaign, is all about inspiring first-year students as they begin their engineering path.

A vision board is a collection of images and words that represent a goal or dream. Inside each box is a vision board tailored to the different engineering paths students at USU can take, helping them explore which area of engineering aligns with their goals.

Ashley McAllister, a student and ambassador for the College of Engineering, was featured in the social media part of this campaign, where students shared their engineering vision.

"We sent boxes to more than 1,000 incoming freshmen in 41 states and have received overwhelmingly positive responses from students and parents alike," said Kristen Gabriel, a recruiter for the College of Engineering. "Our hope — our vision — is that this effort will help incoming students feel more connected to the college and feel welcome to our campus community.

The swag boxes serve as a small reminder that new students are part of a larger, supportive community that's here to help guide them through their engineering journey. To spur even more excitement, engineering ambassadors shared their own vision what they hope their engineering careers will bring.

Incoming students are encouraged to share their engineering vision and swag box moments by using the hashtag #EngineeringVision on social media.
