Earlier this month, members of the Utah State University section of the Society of Women Engineers attended the WE Local conference in Des Moines, Iowa.
WE Local conferences are organized by the Society of Women Engineers, SWE, to bring together people at all stages of their collegiate and professional journey.
Over the course of this two-day conference, Utah State SWE members attended professional development workshops, listened to keynote speakers, and participated in a career fair and other networking activities.
“During the conference, I learned how important it is as a leader to solve problems with other perspectives in mind,” said Regan Tracy, the president of the USU SWE section. “Your team is made up of different experiences and cultures that lead to making the right decision."
For Crystal Tingle, the Utah State SWE Vice President of Communications, one of the most memorable parts of the conference was learning about the success of women from a variety of backgrounds.
“It was very inspiring and uplifting to be around such powerful women,” Tingle said. “I also learned that those success stories don't just come from accomplishments and wins, but from hardships and failures as well. What's important is that we remain resilient. That's how we become one of these powerful women."
