USU Engineering Associate Dean Elected to National Board of Directors

Utah State University engineering professor and associate dean Rose Hu has been elected to the board of directors for the American Society for Engineering Education’s Engineering Research Council, known as ASEE ERC.

Hu will serve a three-year term on the board, overseeing the council’s mission of providing a national forum for its members in education, industry and government.

The council has about 253 institutional members across the nation. Its goal is to facilitate communication pertaining to the research activities of ASEE members. The council establishes and maintains liaison with organizations concerned with engineering research and administration.

“It will be a great honor to work with the ASEE ERC community,” Hu said. “It will give me more opportunities to serve the community and to support the ERC mission and the membership.”

Hu also serves on ASEE’s Curtis W. McGraw Research Award committee. The award recognizes outstanding junior engineering researchers in the nation.

Her term with the board of directors officially began earlier this summer at ASEE’s annual conference in Minneapolis and will continue through 2025.

As the associate dean for research, Hu routinely provides guidance and oversight to support USU’s land grant mission. She is responsible for all College of Engineering research-related services, including facilitating junior faculty for their research success, providing guidance for proposal development, overseeing research awards and annual Research Week events and helping to expand the research portfolio of the college through collaborative opportunities and identifying new funding directions.
