He will speak to David Rosenberg’s river basin management class at 1:30 p.m. via Zoom. The seminar is open to the public.

Cullom was named executive director at the end of last year. Previously, he served as Colorado River Programs Manager for the Central Arizona Project.

“I want it to be an open conversation on pressing, current Colorado River issues,” Rosenberg said.

From diminished streamflow to lower reservoir levels, the Colorado River is facing many challenges. Rosenberg is looking forward to hearing what Cullom identifies as signposts for the river and the decisions to make regarding those markers.

“I am really interested to hear the things he thinks we should pay attention to this year,” Rosenberg said.

Rosenberg’s class has been studying the Colorado River Basin this semester and he is excited for his students to hear directly from a water manager about current issues.

“I also am keen to hear how we weave together complex issues such as water conservation that is sustainable and scalable; maintaining the status quo for endangered fish; working toward more adaptive management techniques; working with First Nations as sovereign partners; and building trust among parties,” he said.
