ASPIRE Research Center to Host Open House in May
News Release — May 10, 2022 — Community members are invited to experience the future of electrified transportation firsthand at an open house later this month.
On May 19 the public is invited to visit the USU ASPIRE research facility for a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations showcasing the future of electrified technology.
The event will be held on Thursday, May 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Advancing Sustainability through Powered Infrastructure for Roadway Electrification (ASPIRE) Research Center in North Logan. The event is an opportunity for members of the public to participate in a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations related to electrified transportation.
The open house is a follow-up to the Science Unwrapped talk given by Regan Zane, the director of ASPIRE and a Utah State University professor of electrical engineering, earlier this year. The goal of the event is to help people learn more about the work of ASPIRE and to encourage pre-college students to study electrical engineering.
Activities at the open house will include: riding the all-electric Aggie Bus, which charges while in motion; a raffle to ride the Kenworth hybrid electric semi-truck; a hands-on demonstration with toy remote control cars on a wireless charging track; demonstrations of electric robots and rovers; and opportunities to test-drive electric cars from local auto dealers.
The research center is located at 670 East 1550 North, North Logan (here is a Google maps link for the address; for ease in finding the location, use this link). Light refreshments will be served at the event.
