New Tuition Credit for Non-Thesis Master’s Students Offered by College of Engineering

September 12, 2023

A new financial aid option is available for students seeking a non-thesis engineering graduate degree at Utah State University.

The College of Engineering Dean’s Tuition Assistance Program will provide a $700 tuition credit, or $350 per semester, to qualifying students. A non-thesis master’s degree is a great option for those wanting to attain career goals at a quicker pace. Coursework-focused programs help students expand career opportunities through advanced training and hands-on experience.

“The college of engineering is taking proactive steps to meet the increasing demand for engineering graduates with advanced training,” said Jagath Kaluarachchi, Dean of the College of Engineering. “Non-thesis programs are great alternatives for those who want to fast-track their careers or take on leadership roles in industry.”

Each of the nine master’s programs offered at the USU College of Engineering has a non-thesis track. There are three available options:

  • Master of Science Plan B (MS-B)
Requires coursework plus an engineering project with final report.
  • Master of Science Plan C (MS-C)
Coursework only. Designed to improve a student’s technical knowledge with emphasis on professional practice and industry-relevant coursework.
  • Master of Engineering (ME)
Coursework only. Emphasizes professional practice while introducing multiple advanced topics. ME programs may require additional credit hours beyond a Plan-B or Plan-C.
