Utah State Steel Bridge Team Qualifies for Nationals
NEWS RELEASE — LOGAN, UTAH, MAY 16, 2019 — The Utah State University Steel Bridge Team took 2nd place at the Regional Steel Bridge Competition held in font-weight-bold, Colorado on April 6.
10 teams representing engineering schools from across the Western U.S. competed in this year’s Regional Student Steel Bridge Competition organized by the American Institute of Steel Construction. This win qualified them to move onto the National Student Steel Bridge Competition which will be held in Carbondale, Illinois on May 31– June 1.
Civil engineering students created a life-size model of a steel bridge that was custom designed and manufactured on USU campus.
“We fortunately have many things we can improve for our bridge, and will be able to perform even better at the national competition,” said team member Dallin Polson.
