The USU student section of the Society of Women Engineers is proud to present our annual event, Engineering Extravaganza Jr. This event is for elementary students in Cache Valley in the 3rd-5th grades. Students will come to campus to learn about engineering through practical, and fun hands-on activities related to the four engineering departments at USU. Come design, think, and create with us at Engineering Extravaganza Jr!

FE Prep Workshop

The FE Preparation workshop series will focus on preparing all MAE, BE, and CEE students to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam near the end of their degree. In this workshop, we will solve problems using the engineering code of ethics and review principles of economics such as cost analysis and the time value of money.

Order of the Engineer Induction Ring Ceremony
Ceremony/Awards/Celebration
The Order of the Engineer was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer.
What is an Engineer's Ring Ceremony?
The Ring Ceremony is the public induction of candidates into the Order of the Engineer, during which the engineer candidates formally accept the Obligation of an Engineer and receive a stainless steel ring to be worn as a symbol on the small finger of the working hand.
What is the "Obligation of an Engineer"?
The Obligation is the formal statement of an engineer's responsibilities to the public and to the profession. The obligation is publicly accepted by an engineer during induction at a Ring Ceremony.

Come Dec. 8 @ 4:30 and tour the USU Central Energy Plant with the ANS Club! You may not know this, but more than 2 miles of tunnels run below our feet as we walk to class every day. These tunnels provide heating and cooling for all the buildings and residence halls on campus.

Wen obtained her Ph.D. in astrophysics from MIT and is currently a professor of physics at the University of Western Australia. She is one of Australia's top astrophysicists and is currently leading the Gravitational Wave Astronomy group.

To be politically and financially viable, renewable power sources need to provide reliable energy, which is challenging when there is little sun or wind. One idea is to store the extra energy produced during intense sun or wind and use it later during periods of low sun/wind.
Terrapower's Natrium nuclear facility (located in Kemmerer WY, only a few hours from Logan) is seeking to solve this problem. Come find out how!

Balsa Bridge Testing (ASCE)
Student Activities
Students will be able to test their bridge-building skills by building a bridge with Balsa wood and testing it under pressure. Students can get the materials packet with instructions on how to build the bridge from the CEE Offices on the Second Floor of the Engineering Lab early in the week. After students have time during the week to build their bridges, they can bring completed bridges to the Atrium to be tested. Bridge packets will also be available for pick-up the week prior.
