Biography

His research focuses on the mechanics of advanced composite materials and structures under extreme conditions, combining experimental mechanics, finite element modeling, and machine learning. Supported by NSF, DOD, DOE, NASA, and industry partners, he has published over 110 peer-reviewed articles in journals and conferences and delivered more than 20 invited seminars worldwide. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2025 UK Distinguished International Associate, the 2025 NASA Glenn Faculty Fellow, the 2023 Hanwha Non-Tenured Faculty Award, the 2023 NSF International Travel Award, and the SAMPE Faculty Advisor Program Awards in 2023 and 2025. Dr. Lee actively collaborates with government agencies, industry, and international research institutes, advancing composite materials research through global partnerships and cross-disciplinary initiatives.
