The overarching goal of the Data Science and Applications (DSA) lab at Utah State University is to devise novel, efficient, and practical solutions to enhance the social impact of data science. The lab focuses on two key areas: Educational Data Mining (overlapping with relevant fields such as learning analytics and AI in Education) and Social Media and Network Analytics (overlapping with relevant fields such as social network analysis, graph mining, and machine learning with graph), plus the fascinating intersection between these two fields. By leveraging advanced data mining techniques and machine learning algorithms, the lab aims to extract valuable insights from large and complex datasets across various domains. The research conducted in the lab not only contributes to the fundamental understanding of data-driven decision-making processes but also fosters interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers from diverse STEM fields. Guided by a commitment to innovation and excellence, the Data Science and Applications Lab at USU strives to shape the future of data science and its impact on society.
