Spring Runoff Conference 2016 - Call for Abstracts

March 2, 2016 - Utah State University’s Spring Runoff Conference is just weeks away. The annual spring runoff conference brings together researchers, scientists, and top experts in Utah and Intermountain West to discuss water issues. This year’s conference will take place April 5-6, 2016 at the Eccles Conference Center on USU’s Logan campus.

Students, undergraduates and graduate students, faculty, and professionals are invited to submit abstracts. The Spring Runoff Conference provides a forum for interdisciplinary sharing of ideas on water-related issues, and is a great venue for introducing research as a poster or oral presentation. The deadline for abstract submissions is Wednesday, March 16.

Plenary and panel discussions for the Conference include a plenary presentation on Utah's Water Outlook in 2016 and Beyond, a forum discussing scientific and policy challenges in meeting the demand for Utah's water, and mountain hydrology and processes critical for water supply in the Intermountain West.

The Conference will also feature a special screening of the film "A River Between Us,” funded by a Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. Challenge Grant Award. The film looks at the Klamath River and, according to its synopsis, is a “call to action on behalf of the largest restoration project in American history.” Showing will take place on April 5 at 6:30 p.m. in USU’s Eccles Conference Center Auditorium, followed by a discussion with filmmaker Jason Atkinson, and is free and open to the public.

Hosted by the USU Water Initiative, this year's conference is supported by the Water Research Laboratory, College of Engineering, and Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Ecology Center, all from USU, and iUTAH EPSCoR.
