Defense Company Donates $5,000 to Society of Women Engineers
News Release - LOGAN, UTAH, Dec. 14, 2016 – The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at Utah State University was presented with a check for $5,000 from defense company Northrop Grumman on Dec. 1.
Representatives of defense company Northrop Grumman came to Utah State to present a check for $5,000 to the Society of Women Engineers.
Justin McMurray, the business unit director at Northrop Grumman, gave a brief presentation to students in attendance, focusing on the need for more women in the engineering industry.
Wendy Merkley, Amy Jo Moore and Robert Silvester, engineers at Northrop Gumman, also joined McMurray to present the check.
Katie Henderson, the president of SWE at Utah State, was joined by chapter leadership, Interim Dean Jagath Kaluarachchi, Nina Glaittli and Val Potter to receive the donation.
“We plan on using the funds for our Engineering Extravaganza event which allows high school aged girls to come up to Utah State and be introduced to engineering and life at USU,” Henderson said.
