Yingying Zheng Joins USU Biological Engineering Department

June 29, 2020

June 29, 2020 — Dr. Yingying Zheng will be joining the Biological Engineering faculty as a tenure-track assistant professor on August 1, 2020.

Dr. Yingying Zheng will be joining the Biological Engineering faculty as a tenure-track assistant professor on August 1, 2020.

Zheng is currently working at USU as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prior to joining USU, Zheng worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Utah. Her research interests include energy system modeling and optimization; renewable energy conversion and integration; grain process engineering; life cycle assessment, engineering economics and application of machine learning techniques in energy system optimization.

She received a doctoral degree of biological system engineering from University of California, Davis. Her dissertation title is “Optimization under Uncertainty of a Biomass-Intergrade Renewable Energy Microgrid with Energy Storage.” She received her master’s degree of agricultural and biological engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her thesis title is “Effects of Compositional variable on fouling behavior of thin stillage.” She received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the China Agricultural University and was ranked first in her class of 108 students.

Zheng is a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and IEEE’s Power and Energy Society. When Zheng is not researching or working, she enjoys traveling, fishing and playing video games.

We are looking forward to Dr. Zheng joining our department.
