USU Engineering Professor Named IEEE Distinguished Lecturer

June 16, 2020 — Utah State University Professor Rose Hu has again been named to a class of distinguished lecturers within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, known as IEEE.

Hu will serve for two years in IEEE’s Vehicle Technology Society. In this new role, she will provide live and pre-recorded lectures at IEEE chapters around the globe. Hu specializes in the design of next-generation wireless communication systems, an increasingly relevant topic in various 5G sectors, including vehicle-to-anything communication. The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society is dedicated to advancing technologies that support mobile and connectivity services for land, air and maritime vehicles.

Utah State University Professor Rose Hu has again been named to a class of distinguished lecturers within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, known as IEEE.

Hu is an active researcher and IEEE member. From 2015 to 2018, she served on IEEE’s Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer class. In 2019, she was elected as an IEEE fellow — the organization’s highest distinction.

Her current research interests include wireless network design and optimization, Internet of Things, cloud computing/fog computing, cyber-physical systems and wireless system modeling and performance analysis. She has published more than 240 papers in leading IEEE journals and conferences and holds over 30 patents.

She is a professor in USU’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and currently serves as associate dean for research. She has won IEEE’s Best Paper awards in 2012, 2015, and twice in 2016. She currently serves on the editorial boards for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Communications Magazine and IEEE Wireless Communications. She received a B.S. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China, M.S. degree from New York University and a PhD from the University of Kansas.
