Intermountain Biological Engineering Conference a Success

UPDATE — Nov. 13, 2019 — The Intermountain Biological Engineering Conference at USU on Nov. 9 was tremendous success. About 150 people were in attendance.

It was the second time USU’s Department of Biological Engineering has hosted a regional conference. Students from Brigham Young University, BYU-Idaho, Idaho State University, Intech Collegiate High School, University of Idaho, University of Utah, Utah State University and Utah Valley University participated.

Corporate attendees included scientists and engineers from Aqua-yield, Autonomous Solutions, Dustin Engineers, Ike Scientific, Recursion Pharmaceuticals and WesTech Engineering. Other distinguished guests included state employees from the Utah Department of Health, Scott Hinton, Director of the USU Research Foundation, representatives from the Nibley City Mayor’s Office and Jon Takemoto of USU’s Department of Biology.

The organizers wish to thank student program committee members Jake Accordino, Nathan Guymon, Jett Murray, Dylan Ellis, Caleb Thomson, Andrew Kjar, Katelyn Ellis, Amanda Moravek, Jessica Gordon and Crystal Fowler. In addition, the Department of Biological Engineering extends its thanks to Michael Lanoy, Levi Sanchez, Laurel Hendricksen and Janet Blad for their work organizing the event. The department also thanks Russell Fisher at the John M. Huntsman School of Business’ Center for Entrepreneurship.
