USU Soapbox Derby Returns for a Second Year

News Release – LOGAN, UTAH, April 4, 2018 – The 2nd Annual USU Soapbox Derby is coming back to Cache Valley on April 21. The races, organized by students from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, will start at 1 p.m. at 2950 N 1800 E in North Logan.

The Soapbox Derby is an annual event for students and community members to create soapbox cars and compete in a downhill, tournament-style race.

The Soapbox Derby is an annual event for students and community members to create soapbox cars and compete in a downhill, tournament-style race. Fifteen teams will compete, including 10 USU teams, 4 high school teams, and 1 community team. The first place winner will receive a cash prize.

Organizers say they’re looking for more teams to sign up and race in the event. Teams can register and apply for funding by visiting ASME's website.

The event is family friendly and free to the public. Races will take place until 4 p.m., and food vendors will be on site. Patrons are encouraged to bring camping chairs to sit on.
