Oroville Media Day

Research Professor Dr. Michael Johnson speaks to reporters about the Oroville Dam spillway model at the Utah Water Research Lab on June 16. The project has attracted national media attention.

Research engineers at the UWRL constructed a 1:50 scale model of the main spillway at Oroville Dam where heavy flows damaged the structure earlier this year.

Media outlets including the Deseret News, Herald Journal, Utah Public Radio, Associated Press, AP Photo, KSL-TV, Fox 13 and the Cache Valley Media Group came to the lab to attend a press conference.

Dr. Michael Johnson, a research professor at the lab, and lab director Dr. Mac McKee spoke with reporters about the Oroville model and the importance of water resources engineering.
