USU Baja SAE
What is Baja SAE?
Baja SAE is a student competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Student teams design an off-road racer to compete with over 100 universities in multiple dynamic events, such as an endurance race, maneuverability course, sled pull, hill climb, and acceleration event. Teams also compete in events such as design judging, sales presentation, cost report and others.
USU Baja is an entirely student-ran design and competition team that competes yearly in the SAE Baja competition. USU Baja provides an opportunity for students to engage in hands-on engineering experiences outside of the classroom including design challenges, fundraising, material-sourcing, team organization, and project management. Come competition time, our buggy must meet industry safety and performance standards, or it doesn’t race. Our program prides itself not only in meeting those standards but exceeding them. Last year our buggy had the fastest lap at 2019 SAE Baja California!
This year USU Baja will compete at Baja SAE Arizona just outside of Tuscon, Arizona . As engineering students we are doing our best to build a car that will proudly represent Utah State University. More information on the competition can be found here.
