Dual-Screen E-Ink Tablet
Team: Callie Kubesh and Ethan Wayland
Project
- Standard e-ink tablets are great for note taking, but they lack fundamental multi-tasking capabilities.
- Many smart LCD tablets have superior multi-tasking functionality, but can be expensive, large, and consume a lot of power.
- The Dual-Screen E-Ink Tablet is an e-ink device with two screens designed for multi-tasking. The user can reference a PDF on one screen while taking notes on the other.
- The secondary screen is detachable from the primary screen, allowing for more versatility and multi-tasking options.
System
Methods
- Raspberry Pi 0 2 W used as primary processor
- Two e-ink screens integrated with two touch screen digitizers
-
Tablet Physical Interface connects the two screens together
- Attachment/Detachment mechanism
- Electrical connection through pogo
Conclusion
- Capable of competent multi-tasking such as annotating a PDF while having another PDF on the other screen.
- The secondary tablet is capable of fully detaching from the primary tablet
- User interface is minimalist and simple, but it could be built upon to add even more functionality
