ATSSA Flagger Instructor Training (FIT)

Description

This course is recognized by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) as meeting its requirements for various levels of traffic control training for local agencies.

The FIT course is designed to teach students how to teach flagger courses effectively. This train-the-trainer course emphasizes skills and techniques for teaching the fundamentals of flagging. Students are provided with all of the information needed to present the four-hour ATSSA flagger certification training course.

Each FIT student must teach a short section of this material to demonstrate their ability to communicate and effectively present the material to learners. Individuals who successfully complete the FIT will be recognized as ATSSA Certified Flagger Instructors.

Upon successful completion of the TCT, TCS, and FIT courses, including the exams, students become ATSSA-Certified Flagger Instructors and are certified to train flaggers for a period of 4 years. To recertify, a student must pass a recertification exam.

If you would like to eventually become a Traffic Control Tech/Supervisor (TTT) Instructor, you will need to pass the Flagger, TCT, and TCS exams with a 90% score.  However, if you are only going to instruct your own people for flagging, you only need to pass with an 80%.
