Sorensen IMPACT Research Group

Welcome to the home of the Sorensen IMPACT Research Group. The IMPACT group’s objective is to carry out impactful research that focuses on improving the reliability, resiliency, and sustainability of civil and architectural structures subject to extreme loading events such as impact, blast, and seismic. Of specific interest to the Group is the residual capacity of structures after exposure to extreme loads and their ability to withstand subsequent loading events. The group also investigates the performance of historical, traditional, and contemporary cementitious materials at various strain rates and under extreme environmental conditions. Additionally the Group examines infrastructure materials that experience premature degradation and look for ways to extend their service life in a sustainable manner.

Please take some time to look and around see what projects we are working on, what some of our testing capabilities are, who is working on what project, and what some of the previous research group members are doing now.
