Celebration of Suffrage
Special Event | Year of the Woman
Join members of the USU and Cache Valley community for a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment.
The program includes the following: A Suffrage Celebration poem by Star Coulbrooke, inaugural Poet Laureate for the City of Logan; A brief history of women's voting rights--Gina Worthen; Latinx Voting Rights: Lizette Villegas; Native American Voting Rights: Alina Begay; Persons with Disabilities Voting Rights: Whitney Geersten; Looking Forward!: President Noelle Cockett. Prior to 6:30 pm, Wildflower will perform songs.
Following the event at 7:30, the Utah Theatre will screen 6 ten-minute films from the PBS collection UNLADYLIKE 2020.

Join us at the Utah Theatre for a screening of 6 ten-minute films featuring innovative multimedia approaches to uncovering the stories of trailblazing women, including Senator/Dr. Martha Hughes Cannon, Zitkala Sa (both of Utah); Bessie Coleman, early 19th century Black aviator; Ynes Mexia, botanist; Anna May Wong, trendsetting movie star and fashion icon; and Gertrude Bentley, gender-nonconforming entertainer.

The Celebrating Women Conference is going VIRTUAL.
2020 marks the 3rd annual Celebrating Women Conference and we are back with another fantastic line-up. This event, held by the Davis County USU Extension, is designed to promote wellness and balance in women of all ages and stages of life and empower women to live their best lives. Our Keynote Speaker for 2020 is Gail Miller and she will present on the concepts “Connect. Inspire. Thrive.” Gail and the Miller family has created a strong legacy of enriching lives and giving back to the communities in which they do business.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have decided to bring wellness right into your home. We will live stream each speaker as well as record their presentation. This means unlike previous years; you will be able to see every single workshop!

Metal Factory and Idea Factory Tours

Industry tours allow students to find out what kind of projects are currently being worked on and show them how to get involved with hand-on projects! The Idea Factory tour takes 10 minutes, and the Metal Factory tour takes 15 minutes, so you can do both in under 30 minutes! Come take an in-person look at what the Metal and Idea Factories have to offer you!

Student Fee Town Hall

We’re holding a Student Fee Town Hall Mon. Nov. 9th at 4 pm in the TSC Ballroom. Students can attend in person or stream through Instagram Live (@usustudentassociation). There will be presentations given by each fee administrator, explaining what our fees are used for and how they’ve been used differently due to COVID related changes. There will also be a question and answer portion where students may ask questions directly to administrators. Questions may also be submitted prior to the event by direct messaging @usustudentassociation on Instagram. USU Aggiethon Dance Marathon

Get Ready to GROOOOVE!! This year's USU chapter of the nationwide Dance Marathon movement is held online. Join us on aggiethon.usu.edu to participate in the live stream for part or all of the event. Aggiethon is a student led movement that raises funds and awareness for children in Primary Children's Hospital. 100% of your support and participation will be donated and appreciated by the kids at Primary's. Kids can't wait for this pandemic to end before we bring a miracle to them!

Water Problems, Simplified: An Excel Workshop for CEE Students
Workshop/Training
The Engineering Tutoring Center and Undergraduate Teaching Fellows for Hydrology/Hydraulics are co-sponsoring a workshop to help CEE students use Excel effectively to solve engineering problems. Topics will include best practices for organizing and solving water problems, effective use of the Excel/Word equation editor tools, examples from Hydraulics and Hydrology, and iterative solutions using the Excel solver and VBA code.

Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is an annual event for students and community members to compete in a Pinewood Derby style race. The cars made will be based on the traditional pinewood derby car but can be modified base on which class is entered. There are two classes: gravity and open. Gravity class races the cars using only the power of gravity. Open class races the cars using any method, such as fans, or motors. This event challenges people to be creative in creating a car that will be the fastest.
3D Bridge Competition

Let's see who can design the best bridge. We will be 3D printing bridges and testing for the best strength-to-weight ratio. Bridges must span over an 8" gap. The bridge must fit in a 3"x3"x10" box and weigh under 100g. The Bridge can only be made of ABS plastic. We can provide ABS material for one bridge. Cardboard Boat Races

Cardboard boat races is an event where you can make a boat just out of cardboard and duct tape and race it across the HPER pool. This year we are having people race it on their own and videotaping their run. Then at the end of the week, E-council will compile the videos and you can watch the race unfold in real-time!
Come Fly with Design, Build, Fly

Come Fly with Design Build Fly! DBF members will bring team and personal remote-control planes to fly. Come watch and/or bring your own plane or drone to fly. This event will be held on Saturday, February 26th at Bridger Park (1181 N 400 W, Logan, UT 84341). We will fly from 10AM-12PM. Please bring your mask and practice social distancing.

ASHRAE is the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers! HVAC is a HUGE part of mechanical engineering! It is a surprisingly interesting field and there are so many great opportunities in the field! Our club works to help students at USU learn about the HVAC&R field through fun activities, tours, and industry speakers!
There are also great scholarship opportunities through ASHRAE, and by being a part of leadership you will be able to get some great letters of recommendation to help you get those scholarships!

What is an Engineer's Ring Ceremony?
The Ring Ceremony is the public induction of candidates into the Order of the Engineer, during which the engineer candidates formally accept the Obligation of an Engineer and receive a stainless steel ring to be worn as a symbol on the small finger of the working hand.
What is the "Obligation of an Engineer"?
The Obligation is the formal statement of an engineer's responsibilities to the public and to the profession. The obligation is publicly accepted by an engineer during induction at a Ring Ceremony.
