Psychosocial Issues Related to Pregnancy and Fertility for Women with Disabilities - Roxanna Nasseri Pebdani

Women with disabilities face many barriers to pregnancy and fertility, most of which are not physical. From society sending messages that women with disabilities are asexual to physicians not knowing how to handle the pregnancy of a woman with a disability, the obstacles can be plentiful. During this talk, Dr. Pebdani will address the structural and psychosocial barriers that women with disabilities face, and will identify methods to reduce or eliminate these barriers.

Dr. Roxanna Nasseri Pebdani is a Senior Lecturer and Course Director in the Discipline of Rehabilitation Counselling at the University of Sydney. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Dr. Pebdani’s research interests are in women's issues in disability, specifically pregnancy and fertility. Dr. Pebdani also conducts research on sexuality and disability.
