The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is a society of professionals devoted to developing and using engineering and technology to advancing human health and well-being. This year students from the Biological Engineering department at Utah State University attended the annual BMES conference. Here is what one of our students, Ian Wadsworth had to say about the conference.

The BMES Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota was a great success! It consisted of oral and poster presentations, a design competition, opening and closing socials, a women in BME luncheon, a minorities luncheon, student chapter best practices sessions, and grad school fair. There was something for everyone.

It was a really good experience to present a poster to other researchers that were performing similar projects, and hear their feedback and advice. It was a fantastic opportunity to reach out to potential graduate schools, asks questions to industry representatives, and build a network of BME professionals.

I particularly enjoyed the many presentations of new research and discoveries that are facilitating the continual advancement of medical technology. It was encouraging to see the field moving forward and expanding, and exciting to play an active part.
