A rising global demand for food and feedstock amidst increasing drought, extreme temperatures and pest damage is straining precious land, water and energy resource. The workshop will be organized with a mix of keynote and invited talks and a moderated open discussion forum. The PAG conference attendees will be able to partake in identifying and discussing (i) current challenges in phenotyping from farm to genomes to ecology; (ii) opportunities for novel devices to capture phenotypes and environmental data; (iii) advanced high throughput phenotyping systems, data analytics and modeling to mitigate and predict effects of abiotic and biotic stress responses and (iv) training a new generation of innovative students and scientists to design, build, test and implement tools for data-driven sustainable agriculture. We expect the workshop to be attended by graduate students, postdocs and researchers and faculty from academia and industry to participate in large numbers. The discussion will also add a new dimension on development of innovative ideas for training and skill development and instrumentation.
