2016 Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year

Dr. Sims' research areas including wastes-to-bioproducts, bioremediation, and drinking water treatment have been described in over 200 publications including journal articles, books, and U.S. Government reports. He is currently the Co-Director of the Sustainable Waste-to-Bioproducts Engineering Center and a member of the Executive Committee for the Synthetic Biomanufacturing Institute. He currently leads a team in the development of algal biofilm-based processes and technologies for applications to large-scale open pond, lagoon, and raceway engineered systems.
