This is the 3rd time in a row that the USU ASCE Concrete Canoe Team has won the ASCE Rocky Mountain Section's Student Conference Concrete Canoe Competition and earned the right to attend the National Concrete Canoe Competition.  In 2011, at Evansville, we achieved in 16th place out 24.  Not bad for our first time at Nationals.  In 2012, at Reno, we achieved 18th place out 24, had the second lightest canoe in the competition, and won the "Spirit of Competition Award" for being the most helpful team during the concrete canoe races.  This year, at Urbana-Champaign, Utah State had the lightest canoe at the competition weighing only 124 lbs. We achieved 5th place overall out of 23, a significant achievement for our 3rd time participating in Nationals, specially competing with such powerhouses as Cal Poly San Luis Obispo,  the University of Florida, the University of Nevada at Reno, and the Ecole de Technologie Superieur from Quebec, Canada. Utah State is the only school from Utah to ever place in the "top 5" at the National Concrete Canoe Competition. We join 34 universities from across the country to claim that honor. It is estimated that well over 200 schools compete in the concrete canoe competition each year.
