Continuing/Transfer Student Scholarships

The following scholarships are available to undergraduate students only. Most are awarded to juniors and seniors in the College of Engineering. Freshmen will only be considered if they have applied to USU as an engineering major and are selected by the scholarship committee. The application period is open from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31. Stephen J. and Vicki H. Allan Scholarship in Computer Science:
A cash award given annually to outstanding undergraduate computer science students.

Loren Runar and Mary Anderson:
Recipients should be undergraduate students in good standing who are pursuing a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Richard W. and Moonyeen R. Anderson Scholarships in Engineering:
Awarded annually and renewable for up to four years. Scholars must be citizens of the United States and graduates of Box Elder County or Cache County high schools within the State of Utah. In addition, scholars must demonstrate academic achievement, a record of community service, leadership, and a substantial contribution to your own support.

Baker-Hughes Engineering Scholarship:
A tuition scholarship to be awarded annually to a student enrolled in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering program. Student must be a resident of Utah.

J. Clair Batty Scholarship: 
One full-tuition scholarship will be awarded to a student in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. Recipients must have graduated from Uintah High School and demonstrate financial need.

Thomas A. Berghoff Memorial Scholarship in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering:

Students are chosen to receive this scholarship based on their academic performance.


Jay R. Bingham Scholarships:

Awarded to students majoring in Civil Engineering. Amounts vary each year.


Alvin and Anna Beth Reeder Bishop Irrigation Engineering Scholarship:

Awarded to junior or senior students pursuing a degree in Irrigation Engineering.


James E. Brown Scholarship in Space Sciences, Space Engineering, and Aerospace Corporation Administration:
Awarded to graduate or undergraduate students with a high academic record and financial need, majoring in some aspect of space sciences, space engineering, or aerospace corporation administration.

Roy Bullen Memorial Fund for Engineering Students:
Available to undergraduate engineering students with financial need. Established by the late Mrs. Bullen in honor of her husband.

Michael B. Bylund Scholarship in Electrical Engineering:
Awarded to undergraduate Electrical Engineering students in their junior or senior year.

CEE Faculty Scholarships:
Awarded by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering to students entering their junior or senior year. Amounts vary from year to year.

Jerry Christiansen Memorial Engineering Scholarship:

Established by Professor and Mrs. Jerald E. Christiansen in memory of his father, this fund is for students enrolled in the College of Engineering.


Colonel Lewis A. Civille Scholarship:

For engineering students having previous military experience. Students are awarded $2,500 per year.


Dr. and Mrs. Clayton Clark Engineering Scholarship:
Awarded to students who have scholastic promise and financial need in the College of Engineering at USU. The award is usually offered to students majoring in electrical or computer engineering where Dr. Clark taught.

Calvin G. and Brigitta S. Clyde Scholarship:

Awarded annually to a student of Native American ancestry and citizens of the United States. Preference will be given to students studying Civil or Environmental Engineering. Other majors in the College of Engineering may qualify.


Blaine P. and Louise Christiansen Clyde Engineering Scholarship Fund:

The Clydes, alumni of USU, have established these scholarships for students enrolled in the College of Engineering who have financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.


W.W. Clyde and Company Engineering Scholarship Fund:

Scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Engineering. Scholarship recipients should have a grade point average of 3.25 or above and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated an interest in international agricultural development, or who are former Peace Corps volunteers. Qualified foreign students will be considered as candidates for the scholarship as well as U.S. Students.


Larry S. Cole Electrical Engineering Scholarship:

To be used for students in the Electrical Engineering professional program.


Phillip S. Coolidge Memorial Scholarship:

Established in memory of USU student Philip S. Coolidge. A two-year, upper-division scholarship to students interested in international work. GPA must be at least 3.25 this scholarship is awarded through the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.


Don M. Corbett Scholarship:
By Invitation only. Open to incoming freshman women engineering majors: Awarded to entering freshman women students in engineering by Mr. and Mrs. Corbett to encourage women to pursue an engineering field. Approximately 10 scholarships are awarded annually.

John and Dorothy Crockett Scholarship:

Awarded to juniors or seniors in the Professional Program of Civil or Environmental Engineering. Awards are $2000 per semester based on scholastic achievement and need.


G. Walter Dansie Scholarship for Engineering Excellence:

Awarded to students demonstrating academic achievement and financial need. Recipients must be U.S. citizens.


Charles Thirkell and Pearl Parkinson Darley Scholarship:

Awarded to continuing students or transfer students in Civil Engineering. Amounts vary.


Lehi Davis Scholarship:

Awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering whose studies emphasize building structures.


ELITech Group-Wescor:

Awarded to junior and senior students. Students must be enrolled in any of the following engineering departments: Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical & Computer, or Biological Engineering with a GPA of at least 3.0. Preference is given to students with experience or interest related to the medical industry. The scholarship is renewable upon re-applying and dependent upon the student’s ability to continue to meet the scholarship requirements.


Bertis L. and Anna E. Embry Scholarship:
Awarded to students having a major within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering or the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. One need-based scholarship given per department per year.

Joe D. and Rodie S. England Scholarship:
Awarded to a junior or senior in Civil and Environmental Engineering on the basis of financial need. Students must be from Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, or Arizona.

Sarah Ann Farley Memorial Scholarship:

Awarded to women in engineering who have completed their freshman engineering coursework.


Forsgren Associates Scholarship in Civil and Environmental Engineering:

Awarded annually to an outstanding student enrolled or to be enrolled at USU.


J. Wayne and Roberta H. Fronk Scholarship:

Recipients should be junior or senior students in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, have a GPA of at least 3.3 and demonstrate financial need.


Charles Irving Frost Scholarship:

Awarded to Civil Engineering majors with demonstrated financial need.


Futura Industries Scholarship:

Awarded to students with majors in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. Scholarship includes a summer internship.


Christine Parker Gibson Scholarship:

Awarded to female students in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a GPA between 2.8 and 3.4. This is a half-tuition scholarship. Students must be recommended by the ASME and SWE faculty advisors.


Rick L. and Anamarie Gold Scholarship:

Awarded to students with a 3.0 GPA or better, in the water resources engineering field of study. Students must be natives of Idaho or Utah. Preference is to be given to candidates from Eastern or Southeastern Idaho.


Dee and Linda Hansen Scholarship in Civil and Environmental Engineering:

Awarded to juniors and seniors majoring in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.


Richard W. and Ruth W. Harris Scholarship:
Awarded to U.S. citizens majoring in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Students must demonstrate financial need.

Jerry Herr and Kathy Bayn Scholarship:

Awarded to juniors or seniors above a 3.0 in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Preference is given to women or to students interested in working overseas (as evidenced by active involvement in Engineers Without Borders).


Louis C. and Rosemarie G. Hickman Scholarship.

Awarded to undergraduates in the College of Engineering.


David A. Hinton Scholarship:

Awarded to juniors or seniors in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Based on financial need with an emphasis on students who are employed and married while working on their degree.


David B. Hofer Scholarship:
Awarded to a junior or senior with demonstrated financial need.

Intermountain Power Agency Scholarship:
Awarded to junior and senior students enrolled in the College of Engineering. Amounts vary annually.

Ronald and Janet Jibson Scholarship:

Awarded to juniors or seniors in Civil Engineering based on financial need. Preference is given to married students who are working.


Keller-Bliesner Scholarship in Irrigation Engineering:

A two-year scholarship awarded to a junior (or senior who is pursuing a five-year combined bachelor’s / master’s program) emphasizing irrigation engineering.


Harold R. Kepner Memorial Scholarship in Engineering:
Awarded to an undergraduate engineering student of a minority group with a financial need and demonstrated scholastic ability.

George A. and Ivalou Keller Lawrence Scholarships in Civil and Environmental Engineering:
Awarded annually on the basis of academic performance and financial nee, typically to juniors or seniors.

George O. Matkin Scholarship in Civil and Environmental Engineering:
Awarded to students having majors within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, typically to juniors or seniors.

Mechanical Engineering Alumni and Faculty Scholarship:

Student must have a high GPA and be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.


E. Joe and Charlotte Middlebrooks Scholarship:

Scholarship is awarded to a woman and/or a minority engineering student.


John and Alma Millard Scholarship:

Awarded to a junior or senior in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering based on financial need.


David C. Miller and Robert M. Matich Scholarship:

Freshman scholarship awarded to residents of California or Utah who have academic merit and financial need.


David R. Miller Memorial Scholarship in Civil and Environmental Engineering:

One or more full tuition and fees scholarships given annually to undergraduate students. Preference will be given to those with financial need.


James and Teresa M. Moore Scholarship:

Awarded to juniors having majors within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Recipients must be U.S. citizens and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and financial need.


Alma P. and Kay Moser Scholarship.  

Awarded to juniors and seniors in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.


Henry J. and Rebecca Henderson Nelson Memorial Scholarship in Engineering:

Established by Professor and Mrs. Jerald E. Christiansen in memory of her parents, this endowment is for students enrolled in the College of Engineering.


Nielsen, Maxwell, and Wangsgard Scholarship:

Awarded annually to a student having a major within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Students must be interested in consulting engineering.


Parker Hannifin Scholarship:

One scholarship given annually to a junior or senior engineering student.


Jack B. and Bonnie F. Parson Scholarships in Engineering:

Awarded to students of at least sophomore status, who show superior scholarship ability, a commitment to high social and moral values, and financial need.


Charles and Rae Perkins Scholarship:

Awarded annually to juniors and seniors in the College of Engineering, amounts vary.


Dean F. and Bessie C. Peterson Scholarship in Engineering:

Available to students having a major within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.


Harold and Elsie Peterson Scholarships:

Awarded annually on the basis of academic performance and financial need.


Wendell L. Pope Endowed Scholarship:

Cash award given annually to an outstanding undergraduate computer science student.


Donald H. and Annice B. Potter Scholarship in Engineering Education:

Given to engineering students every other year during even numbered years. Recipients must have graduated from a Box Elder County high school, with preference given to Bear River High School. Awarded to incoming freshmen.


Questar Corporation Scholarship
Awarded to an engineering student with financial need.

Ace and Arville Raymond Scholarship in Engineering:
Awarded annually to an outstanding and worthy undergraduate enrolled in the College of Engineering.

Carlyle and Elliot Rich Scholarship:

Awarded to students having a major within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering on the basis of academic achievement, superior potential and personal integrity.


Lowell R. and Afton T. Rich Scholarship in Civil and Environmental Engineering:

Awarded to undergraduate students. Amount varies.


David Rider Scholarship in Civil and Environmental Engineering:

Awarded annually to juniors and seniors on the basis of financial need.


Rio Tinto Kennecott Scholarships:

Awarded to full time undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate community involvement, social conscience and leadership ability. Possible summer internship. Students must be in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering and have demonstrated scholastic ability.


Harold W. and Helen Ritchey Engineering Scholarship:

Awarded to junior and senior students in engineering. Amounts vary.


Larry E. Roberts Scholarship in Electrical Engineering:
One or more scholarships representing full-tuition and fees for one year for undergraduate students.

Rocky Mountain Power Foundation Scholarship:
For students enrolled in the College of Engineering from the Rocky Mountain Power service area. Amount varies annually.

Peggy R. Roskelley Memorial Scholarship for Women:

For a female engineering student with financial need. Awarded to juniors and seniors.


David G. Sant Engineering Scholarship:

Awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in The College of Engineering.


David G. Sant Franklin County Scholarship for Preston or West Side High School Students:
Freshman scholarship: One or two freshman students will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship to study engineering at USU.

Cheryl and Lonnie Smith Family Foundation:
Scholarship is for College of Engineering students based on academic achievement and need.

Carl and Nadeane Spear Scholarship:

Awarded to a junior or senior student majoring in Mechanical Engineering.


Sidney R. Stock Scholarship in Electrical Engineering:
Given in memory of the founder of the department, this scholarship is for students majoring in Electrical Engineering.

Ivan M. and Ruth C. Teuscher Memorial Scholarship:

Tuition scholarships for students enrolled in the College of Engineering.


Kevin M. Thompson Scholarship:

Awarded to students in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering based on financial need and scholastic achievement.


William G. and Delma L. Wagstaff Scholarship

Awarded to undergraduate students in the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering department. Eligible students should be non-residents interested in manufacturing engineering.


Lyman S. and Vivian B. Willardson Scholarship:

For U.S. citizens studying irrigation engineering and is based on need.


Woodward-Clyde Engineering Scholarship:

For undergraduate students having a major with the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department.
